General Editor

John McGhee QC: John maintains a wide and varied practice in the fields of modern commercial Chancery work. He has a particular expertise in property related work but his practice also encompasses company, insolvency and partnership disputes, problems involving trusts and civil fraud and banking and professional negligence claims. Through his editorship of Snell’s Equity he has developed an interest in the application of equitable doctrines and remedies to modern commercial contexts. Recent cases in which he has been involved include Actionstrength v International Glass Engineering SpA (guarantees in construction contracts), Tiffany Investments Ltd v Bircham & Co Nominees (No. 2) Ltd (pre-emption rights in long residential leases), Clear Channel UK Ltd v Manchester City Council (business tenancies of advertising hoardings), Wilkinson v West Bromwich Building Society (limitation periods in mortgages) and the long running Crampton litigation (complex trust and company issues). He also advises in non-litigious matters and has recently been involved in the trusts aspects of a number of proposed investment schemes. John is a member of Maitland Chambers.
